Description
MG5 medical cyanoacrylate is a clear, low-viscosity instant adhesive supplied in a 1 oz bottle for controlled assembly of medical devices. Its ethyl cyanoacrylate base and 5 cP viscosity let the liquid enter close-fitting joints where a thin adhesive film and fast fixture are useful.
Where MG5 Fits in Device Assembly
MG5 is intended for small, accurately fitted components rather than wide gaps. The thin liquid can be applied to prepared metal, ABS, PVC, polycarbonate, phenolic, neoprene rubber, and nitrile rubber surfaces identified in the technical data. Typical work includes bonding housings, small fittings, tubing components, and other assemblies where a one-part adhesive reduces mixing steps. The technical data identifies the MG series as medical grade and records USP Class VI certification. That designation does not replace validation of the finished device, sterilization method, production process, or regulatory pathway. Confirm the complete application with your quality and engineering teams before release.
How MG5 Medical Cyanoacrylate Handles
Apply a small amount to one clean, dry mating surface, bring the parts together promptly, and hold the joint without movement during fixture. The TDS lists a 15-second fixture speed and an 8-hour full cure under its test conditions. Cure behavior changes with substrate, bond gap, humidity, temperature, and adhesive volume, so production trials should use the actual parts and process. Keep the nozzle clean and avoid returning dispensed material to the original bottle. Unopened containers are best kept cold and dry, with the TDS identifying storage below 50 degrees F as optimal.
