Description
Permabond® 170 is a high-viscosity, fast-curing cyanoacrylate adhesive designed for bonding metals with exceptional strength. As a 100% methyl cyanoacrylate formulation, it delivers rapid curing, high shear strength, and excellent adhesion to steel, aluminum, brass, and stainless steel. Unlike standard cyanoacrylates, Permabond 170 is less aggressive to sensitive plastics such as polycarbonate, ABS, and Styrofoam™, making it ideal for delicate assemblies and multi-material bonding.
This single-component adhesive cures rapidly at room temperature when pressed into a thin film between parts. It meets MIL-SPEC MIL-A-46050C Type I, Class 3, ensuring compliance for military, aerospace, and industrial applications.
For customers looking for alternatives to Loctite® 414, 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ PR1500, or Permatex® Ultra Bond Super Glue, Permabond 170 provides an industry-proven, high-strength solution.

Directions for Use
- Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and grease-free. Use acetone or isopropanol for best results.
- Apply a small amount of 170 to one surface only.
- Quickly align and press components together. Apply even pressure to ensure a thin, even adhesive film.
- Hold in place for 15 seconds until initial bond forms.
- Allow 24 hours for full strength development.
- For difficult or porous surfaces, use Permabond CSA or QFS 16 Activator.
🔹 Note: For bonding polypropylene, polyethylene, PTFE, or silicone, use Permabond Polyolefin Primer (POP) before applying adhesive.
