Description
Poly Prep 2 primer is a low-viscosity surface treatment that raises adhesive bond strength on plastics and elastomers that normally resist bonding. It wipes onto polyethylene, polypropylene, nylon, PTFE, and many rubber substrates ahead of cyanoacrylate or structural adhesive, leaving a thin active film that lets the adhesive wet out and grip. Treated parts move straight to bonding once the carrier flashes, which keeps the assembly line moving.
Where Poly Prep 2 primer earns its place
Low surface energy plastics shed most adhesives. A wiped coat of this amber, alcohol-based primer changes the surface chemistry so the bond holds. Shops reach for it on polyolefin housings, nylon brackets, PTFE seals, and flexible elastomer parts before assembly. One light pass is enough, and the isopropyl alcohol carrier flashes off in seconds at room temperature.
How Poly Prep 2 primer performs
The primer carries a 3 cps viscosity, so it flows thin and dries fast without pooling. Color is amber to brown, which gives a light visual check on coverage. It is flammable, so apply it in adequate ventilation and keep it away from ignition sources. Let the film flash before you apply the adhesive for the strongest bond. A single wiped coat is all the surface needs, and flooding the part wastes material without adding strength. Recap the bottle between uses to keep the alcohol carrier from evaporating.
