Description
Chem-Calk 916 is a black, one-component textured polyurethane sealant for concrete and general construction joints. Its textured finish helps it transition across masonry, concrete, window and door perimeters, control joints, and expansion joints.
Chem-Calk 916 Benefits
- Textured appearance helps the bead blend into concrete and masonry surfaces.
- Non-sag paste consistency supports vertical and perimeter joint application.
- Moisture-cure polyurethane forms a tough, flexible rubber after placement.
- Dynamic movement capability supports construction joints that expand and contract.
- Black color fits selected concrete, facade, and perimeter sealing details.
This sealant is best suited for construction crews that need a textured bead rather than a smooth architectural finish. It is commonly selected when concrete appearance, joint movement, and general weather sealing all matter on the same detail.
Where Chem-Calk 916 Fits
- Perimeter sealing around masonry openings, windows, and doors.
- Control and expansion joints in prepared concrete and masonry.
- Transitional sealing between surfaces with different textures.
- General-purpose concrete weather sealing on vertical or non-sag joints.
- Repair work where a black textured polyurethane sealant is required.
Surface Preparation and Use
Prepare the joint before opening the cartridge. Remove loose concrete, dust, oil, laitance, old failed sealant, and other contamination. Install backer rod where needed, size the joint correctly, and tool the bead while it is workable to improve contact with both joint faces.
Test adhesion on representative substrates before project use, especially on coated metals, unusual plastics, weathered concrete, or surfaces with prior treatments. For related construction sealing products, browse Chemical Concepts sealants.
Technical Details and Documentation
