Description
calk 916 is a white, textured, one-component polyurethane sealant supplied in a 20 oz sausage for construction and industrial joint sealing. It is designed for non-sag application, then moisture cures to a flexible rubber seal. Use it where a textured bead needs to bridge moving joints on masonry, panels, windows, doors, and similar building envelope details.
calk applications
This Bostik sealant is used for perimeter sealing, control joints, expansion joints, and general construction joints where a polyurethane material is specified. The textured finish helps it visually blend into concrete, masonry, and other rougher substrates better than a glossy smooth bead. Published product information describes 916 as a moisture-curing sealant for dynamic joints with total movement up to 50 percent, or plus or minus 25 percent. It is intended for use over properly prepared substrates and with joint design, backer rod, tooling, and cure conditions suited to the job. Cut the sausage pack cleanly, load it into the correct bulk gun, and tool the bead before skin formation starts. Joint faces should be sound, dry, and free of loose material so the bead can wet the surface evenly. Plan for weather, substrate temperature, and access before opening material so the installer has enough working time to finish the joint.
The 20 oz sausage format is packed 12 per case. Bostik directs installers to use opened cartridges and sausages the same day, apply a continuous bead without trapping air, and tool the sealant before a skin forms. The product is not recommended for glazing, and it should not be painted until fully cured. Confirm substrate adhesion and joint design for the specific project before installation.
