Description
Chem-Set Buff-n-Blend Scuff Discs in gold 1200 grit are non-woven hook-and-loop discs that clean, finish, deburr, and blend without changing the shape or dimension of the work piece. The open non-woven web conforms to contours and resists undercutting, which makes it a controlled way to refine a surface rather than cut into it. The 5 inch disc attaches to the hook-and-loop pad on an orbital or DA sander.
Where the Buff-n-Blend Scuff Discs Are Used
Solid surface fabricators use the gold disc to bring a satin or matte finish up to a consistent sheen, blend repairs, and knock down scratches between grit steps. The same disc cleans and finishes metal, deburrs edges, and prepares automotive panels. It works as a non-woven alternative to 3M Scotch-Brite Clean and Finish discs.
How the Buff-n-Blend Scuff Discs Perform
The gold pad runs at 1200 grit (micro fine), the finest cutting grade in the Buff-n-Blend line above the non-abrasive white cleaning pad. A high-strength looped fabric backing grips the back-up pad firmly so the disc tracks true at speed and lasts through repeated passes. For a matte-to-gloss progression, pair the gold disc with a firm back-up pad and a soft interface pad.
Run the sander at a steady, moderate speed and let the disc do the work rather than forcing it into the surface. Lighter pressure across more passes gives a more even sheen than heavy pressure in one pass, and it extends disc life. Keep a fresh disc on hand for final blending so a loaded pad does not leave a dull patch.
