Description
The Chem-Set M1 Bonding Fastener adds an 8-32 male threaded stud to a panel or fabricated part without drilling through the visible face. Its stud is mounted to a round baseplate that creates a broad bonding area for adhesive attachment or molding into a compatible substrate.
Where the Chem-Set M1 Bonding Fastener Is Used
This no-drill format supports hidden attachments in transportation panels, signs, marine assemblies, composite parts, cabinetry, stone fabrication, equipment housings, and general manufacturing. It can provide a mounting point for clips, brackets, covers, wire-management hardware, and removable service components while leaving the opposite surface intact. The fastener is especially useful when through-bolts would interrupt an appearance surface or when access is available from only one side during assembly.
Bonding and Assembly Planning
Prepare the baseplate and receiving surface according to the selected adhesive. Remove contamination, abrade when the adhesive supplier recommends it, and keep the prepared surfaces clean until bonding. Apply enough material to wet the baseplate without creating an uncontrolled squeeze-out path into the threads. Position the stud square to the surface and hold it against movement for the adhesive’s specified fixture period.
Adhesive selection is application-specific. Match the chemistry to both materials, the service temperature, moisture exposure, vibration, gap, cure conditions, and production cycle. Validate the complete bonded assembly on representative parts before release. A bonding fastener shifts the attachment load into the adhesive joint and substrate, so joint performance cannot be inferred from the stud size alone.
