Description
Mold Life Extender A is the Part A component of a two-component Chem-Set coating used on silicone molds. It is supplied in a 1 gallon bulk package and is mixed 50/50 by volume with the matching Part B before application.
Mold Life Extender A Benefits
- Part A packaging lets shops replace or stock one side of the two-component system.
- 50/50 volume mix ratio keeps proportioning simple for trained mold room staff.
- Spray application can produce a more even surface than brushing on large or detailed molds.
- Brush application remains useful for small areas, touch-up work, and controlled shop trials.
- Bonding to the silicone mold helps form a permanent treated surface once applied.
This material is for mold maintenance programs where the production team has already qualified the complete Part A and Part B process. Because the coating bonds to the silicone mold and cannot be removed, test on a representative mold or noncritical area before treating production tooling.
Mold Life Extender Use Cases
- Maintaining silicone molds used for repeat casting cycles.
- Treating mold surfaces that need a bonded coating layer.
- Spray application on larger molds where even coverage is important.
- Brush application on smaller mold areas and controlled repairs.
- Stocking Part A for a documented 50/50 by volume process.
Surface Preparation And Use
Clean the mold surface according to the approved shop procedure before mixing. Remove dust, release residue, loose material, and moisture that could affect coating contact. Confirm that the mold is dry and that the matching Part B is available before opening Part A.
Mix only the amount that can be applied within the qualified working window. Spray when uniform coverage is the priority. Brush when the area is small or masked. Once the material is bonded to the mold, plan on leaving it in place.
