Description
2 inch V-Groove tape uses a thin polyester film and aggressive hot-melt rubber adhesive to support clean folding in solid-surface fabrication. The clear 3.0 mil backing bridges a machined groove without building a bulky hinge on the finished face. Strong initial grab helps keep the routed sections aligned as the panel is folded, bonded, and held in position for edge buildup or other formed details.
Using 2 Inch V-Groove Tape
Start with a clean, dry panel and remove routing dust, oil, chips, and other shop debris. Center the roll over the planned groove line, then apply firm, even pressure along the entire strip. Full contact across the two-inch width helps prevent loose edges and creates a consistent hinge for the folding operation.
Once the groove is cut, the tape holds the face together as the sections close into the required angle. The narrower width is useful where the groove and nearby finished area do not require the coverage of a three-inch roll. The film may also provide temporary protection on compatible polished metal and plastic surfaces. Test first when coating sensitivity, appearance, or adhesive residue is a concern.
