Description
QSil Primer 3UV is a one-component silicone adhesion primer with blue tint and a UV tracer for easier coverage inspection. CHT lists this primer for use with condensation and addition cure silicone materials, with adhesion support on metals, rubbers, polyester, nylon, and nonporous surfaces.
QSil Primer 3UV Benefits
- Blue tint helps operators see where primer has been applied during prep work.
- UV tracer supports inspection when visual confirmation matters on complex parts.
- One-component format avoids mixing steps at the bench.
- Odorless mineral spirits carrier wets nonporous surfaces when they are cleaned correctly.
- Pint packaging suits repair benches, lab work, and lower-volume production priming.
This primer is a process control product. It does not replace cleaning, drying, or compatibility testing. Use it when the silicone system and substrate call for a primer and when coverage confirmation can help reduce missed areas.
Where QSil Primer 3UV Fits
- Silicone bonding to clean metals and nonporous surfaces.
- Rubber, polyester, and nylon assemblies that need silicone adhesion support.
- Production cells that inspect primer coverage under UV light.
- Repair or prototype work using CHT silicone elastomers.
- Applications where clear primer is harder for operators to confirm.
Surface Preparation and Use
Surfaces should be dry and free from grease, oil, dust, release agents, and loose residue before priming. Nonporous substrates should be solvent degreased with a solvent that is safe for the material. Apply a thin, even primer film by wiping, brushing, spraying, or dipping as the process allows.
Let the primer dry under the recommended humidity and time conditions before applying silicone. Keep containers closed between uses and protect cleaned parts from handling contamination. Validate bond strength on production substrates before moving the process into repeat work.
Technical Details and Documentation
CHT identifies Primer No. 3UV as a liquid silicone adhesion aid with blue tint, UV fluorescence, 40 degrees C flash point, storage below 38 degrees C, and a 24 month listed shelf life. Review current manufacturer resources from CHT Group before production use.
