Description
CONAP AD-1146 is an ELANTAS adhesive primer supplied here in a quart container for polyurethane bonding work. Public ELANTAS literature describes AD-1146 and AD-1147 as one-component metal primers that are activated with heat at or above 82 C, while the product data sheet identifies AD-1146 as a solvent-borne, heat-cured primer for bonding liquid polyurethanes to substrates during cure.
CONAP AD-1146 Uses
- Priming metal parts before casting or bonding with compatible polyurethane systems.
- Production work where a heat-activated primer step is already part of the process.
- Electrical and industrial assemblies using CONAP or ELANTAS polyurethane materials.
- Bench trials where quart packaging is easier to control than larger pails.
The master row lists this SKU as an amber primer with 1500 to 2750 cP viscosity. Treat those details as receiving and process clues, then confirm current values against the lot documentation before releasing any production specification.
Use this primer when the bonding process already calls for AD-1146 by name or when testing has approved it with the selected polyurethane. For new work, document the substrate, cleaning method, primer dry time, heat exposure, and final peel or adhesion result before scaling beyond trial parts.
CONAP AD-1146 Handling
- Clean and dry surfaces before applying primer by brush, wipe, or approved shop method.
- Use a thin, even film and follow the required heat activation step.
- Keep the container closed between pours to limit solvent loss and contamination.
- Review the current SDS for flammable solvent handling, PPE, and ventilation.
Technical Notes
ELANTAS describes CONAP primers as solvent-based, one-component materials used to improve adhesion of Conathane polyurethane resin systems and elastomers. The AD-1146 data sheet supports its use as a heat-cured polyurethane bonding primer.
