Description

EN-1554 potting compound is a two-component polyurethane resin system for electrical encapsulation, cable end sealing, connector protection, and molded part work. This clear amber 1 gallon kit gives electronics, marine, and mold-making teams a tough elastomeric fill material where moisture, abrasion, and contamination resistance matter.

EN-1554 potting compound Benefits

  • Polyether polyurethane chemistry cures into a cold-flow resistant elastomer for protected electrical assemblies.
  • Clear amber cure helps technicians see fill level, part position, and trapped air during qualification work.
  • Room-temperature or heat-assisted cure options let process owners fit the material to shop conditions.
  • Published data lists 4,500 psi tensile strength, 550 percent elongation, and 87 Shore A hardness after cure.
  • Resistance to water, seawater, oils, gasoline, and JP-4 fuel supports demanding equipment environments.

Use this kit when the assembly needs a flexible potting material rather than a rigid epoxy block. It is a strong fit for connector backshells, cable end seals, printed circuitry, and molded electrical parts.

EN-1554 potting compound Applications

  • Encapsulating printed circuit assemblies in LED and electronics work.
  • Potting cable ends, terminals, and watertight electrical connectors.
  • Casting clear amber molded parts for qualification or low-volume production.
  • Lining small pumps, chutes, or conveyors where abrasion resistance is required.
  • Marine and field equipment assemblies exposed to water and contamination.

Surface Preparation and Use

Keep both components sealed until use and protect Part A from atmospheric moisture. Clean parts before potting so oil, dust, flux residue, and loose contamination do not sit under the cured polyurethane. For metal, neoprene, or PVC bonding, follow the primer guidance in the current technical data sheet.

Mix the kit according to the approved process, pour steadily, and allow enough time for the material to settle around leads and cavities. Confirm cure schedule, ventilation, and handling controls before production use because the material contains regulated chemistry.

Technical Details and Documentation

Manufacturer literature identifies CONATHANE EN-1554 as a MIL-M-24041-C polyurethane system with 99.9 percent mixed non-volatile content and a 15 month shelf life when stored unopened below 90 degrees F. Review current information from ELANTAS before approving a production process.
