Description

Conathane EN-1554 is a two-part polyether polyurethane encapsulant supplied as a 1 gallon amber kit. Mixed and cured, it forms a tough, cold-flow-resistant elastomer that potts and protects electrical and electronic assemblies. It cures at room temperature or with heat, so it fits both bench work and production lines.

Where Conathane EN-1554 Is Used

The amber system encapsulates connectors, printed circuit boards, cable splices, transformers, pumps, and conveyor electronics where the finished part faces moisture, fuel, or harsh handling. The polyether backbone gives the cured resin good resistance to oils, gasoline, JP-4 fuel, water, and seawater, which makes it a common choice for outdoor and marine electronics.

How Conathane EN-1554 Performs

Cured material resists abrasion, corrosion, and contamination while staying flexible enough to absorb shock and vibration on potted assemblies. The amber color lets a technician see the fill level and inspect for voids during pouring. Mix the two parts to the kit ratio, degas if the application is void-sensitive, and pour into the cavity before the working time runs out.

Plan the pour around the working time and ambient temperature, since warmer rooms shorten both pot life and cure. For thick pours, build the depth in stages to manage exotherm, and let the first stage gel before adding the next. A short oven post-cure raises the final hardness and speeds the assembly back into service.
