How a Permatex gear oil RTV bead replaces a cut gasket

Clean both mating surfaces, remove old gasket material and oil residue, and lay a continuous 1/8 inch bead inside the bolt circle. Reassemble within the open time window and torque to spec in the proper sequence. The silicone forms an in-place gasket that conforms to surface variation a cut gasket cannot match, while resisting the gear oil that would dissolve a generic sealant.
