Description
DFense Blok agent is a 1 lb thixotropic epoxy gel used before Devcon DFense Blok abrasion-resistant compound. It wets the prepared substrate and improves cured adhesion properties, including shear, peel, and impact performance, so the topcoat has a better foundation.
DFense Blok agent Benefits
- Improves ease of application for DFense Blok on prepared surfaces.
- Supports cured adhesion properties for demanding wear repair areas.
- Can be overcoated directly after application, which reduces waiting between steps.
- Non-sagging gel helps on vertical and overhead surfaces.
- Orange color gives crews a visual check that the wetting layer has been placed.
This material is part of the DFense Blok repair method. It should be applied after the surface is cleaned and profiled, then followed by the abrasion-resistant compound while the wetting layer is ready for topcoat. That makes process timing and surface preparation just as important as the material selection.
DFense Blok agent Applications
- Priming prepared substrates before DFense Blok wear compound.
- Repair areas exposed to abrasion, impact, and chemical contact.
- Vertical and overhead surfaces where a non-sag epoxy gel is needed.
- Equipment liners, chutes, hoppers, elbows, and other high-wear parts.
- Jobs where expanded metal is not being used and a wetting layer is preferred.
Surface Preparation And Use
Remove oil, dust, rust, loose coating, and weak material from the repair surface. Abrade or blast the area according to the repair procedure, then clean it again before applying the wetting gel. Keep the layer even and avoid missed spots that could become weak points under the wear compound.
Apply the DFense Blok compound according to the current technical sheet. The wetting layer is designed for immediate topcoat, so stage tools, mixing boards, and repair material before starting. Review current information from Devcon before qualifying the repair process.
