Description
ELAN-Tron C 2006 Hardener is the Part B component of the ELAN-Tron E 2003 Black and C 2006 two-component epoxy battery sealant from ELANTAS PDG. Mixed one to one by volume with the E 2003 resin, it forms a room temperature curing epoxy that bonds and seals polypropylene and hard rubber battery cases and resists sulfuric acid in service.
Where ELAN-Tron C 2006 Hardener Fits
The C 2006 hardener is built for battery manufacturing and repair, where the cured epoxy has to hold polypropylene and hard rubber cases together and stand up to battery acid. Meter-mix equipment dispenses the resin and hardener at a one to one volume ratio for consistent placement on a production line.
- Sealing and bonding polypropylene battery cases.
- Sealing and bonding hard rubber battery cases.
- Assemblies that see sulfuric acid exposure in service.
- Meter-mix dispensing on battery production lines.
How ELAN-Tron C 2006 Hardener Performs
Mixed with the E 2003 resin, the system gels in 10 to 20 minutes for a 200 mL mass at 77°F and reaches 80 to 90 percent of full cure in 12 to 24 hours at room temperature, with full properties developing over 5 to 7 days. A 30 minute cure at 170°F speeds the process after gel. The cured epoxy returns Shore D 80 hardness, 4,000 psi tensile strength, and 1,200 psi aluminum lap shear, with a glass transition near 61°C and sulfuric acid absorption under 2 percent. Dielectric strength is 610 volts per mil, holding 570 volts per mil after 24 hours in water.
