Description
Epibond 315M is a two-part electrically conductive epoxy paste adhesive infused with MIRALON carbon nanotube technology, built for structural bonding where the joint also has to carry current or dissipate static. It bonds metals, composites, and dissimilar substrates without the weight penalty of silver or nickel filled adhesives.
Epibond 315M Benefits
- Carbon nanotube network delivers conductivity at lower filler loading and lower density than metal-filled adhesives
- Lap shear strength of 5,200 psi on aluminum per ASTM D1002, and 6,000 psi thick adherend
- Electrical resistance below 1 x 10 to the fifth ohms for ESD and static dissipation work
- Service temperature to 400°F with a glass transition temperature of 150°C to 175°C
- Contains 0.005 inch spacer beads, so bondline thickness stays consistent without shims
- Low outgassing to NASA ASTM E595, which matters for space and vacuum hardware
- Room temperature or heat cure, so the schedule fits your throughput
Common Applications
- Aerospace and defense structural assemblies
- Electronics and ESD-sensitive component bonding
- EMI shielding and grounding paths in enclosures and housings
- Composite-to-metal joints on airframes, drones, and UAV structures
- Avionics and satellite hardware with low outgassing requirements
- High-temperature industrial assemblies needing electrical continuity
Mixing and Applying Epibond 315M
Mix ratio is 100:61 by weight or 2:1 by volume. Working time at 77°F is 70 minutes with a gel time of 100 minutes, so there is room for larger layups. Full cure runs 5 to 7 days at room temperature, and accelerated schedules from 150°F to 300°F are available when throughput matters. Clean and abrade both substrates before bonding, then apply and clamp to let the spacer beads set the bondline. The mixed adhesive is a dark gray paste. Part A is the epoxy resin and Part B is the hardener. The material causes skin and eye irritation and may cause allergic reactions, so wear gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing, and review the SDS before use. This product is for professional and industrial use.
