Description
Fluorolube GR-290 is a heavy-grade perfluorocarbon grease for oxygen service, chemical processing, and applications requiring full inertness to aggressive oxidizers and halogens. Formulated with a PCTFE polymer base and PTFE thickener, GR-290 provides stable lubrication where conventional greases would react, ignite, or degrade.
GR-290 Benefits
- Fully inert to oxygen, halogens, and strong oxidizing agents — rated for oxygen-enriched service
- Non-flammable under normal operating conditions, reducing fire risk in hot oxygen and reactive gas environments
- PTFE thickener maintains stable grease structure across a wide service temperature range
- Low volatility and vapor pressure support use in vacuum systems and enclosed process equipment
- Compatible with most metals, fluoropolymer seals, and plastics used in industrial fluid handling
Common Applications
- Oxygen valve and fitting lubrication in industrial gas and medical oxygen systems
- Thread and gasketing lubricant for high-pressure oxygen service piping
- Chemical pump bearings and mechanical seals in halogen and oxidizer environments
- Cryogenic valve packing where conventional greases fail at low temperatures
- Vacuum system lubrication where outgassing and reactivity are concerns
Surface Prep and Use
Clean contact surfaces with a compatible solvent such as alcohol or ketone and allow to dry before application. Apply a thin, uniform film to mating surfaces, threads, or bearing races. A light coat is sufficient to establish the lubricant film. GR-290 remains stable over long service periods without migration or separation.
