Description
LORD 521 adhesive is an acrylic bonding system used with Accelerator 19 for plastics and prepared metals. This LP-50 2:1 cartridge gives production and repair teams a medium-viscosity adhesive with a longer working window for larger parts, longer bond lines, and careful repositioning.
LORD 521 adhesive Benefits
- Long working time gives operators more room to place parts before fixture pressure is applied.
- Acrylic chemistry bonds many thermoplastics, thermoset plastics, and prepared metals.
- Medium paste viscosity helps keep material on the bond line during cartridge application.
- Room-temperature cure avoids ovens for many shop bonding and repair workflows.
- LP-50 cartridge packaging supports small assemblies, field repairs, and process trials.
Use this product when the job needs a stronger acrylic bond than tape or mechanical fastening alone can provide, but the parts still need time for alignment. Confirm the adhesive and accelerator pairing before substituting from another LORD acrylic system.
LORD 521 adhesive Applications
- Plastic bracket and housing bonding after cleaning and fit checks.
- Prepared metal-to-plastic assemblies in sign, vehicle, and general manufacturing work.
- Thermoset plastic repairs where abrasion is part of the approved prep method.
- Long bond lines that need more open time before clamping.
- Small production jobs using handheld 2:1 cartridge dispensing.
Surface Preparation and Use
Remove grease, oil, mold release, loose contamination, and poorly bonded oxide from the surfaces. Thermoset plastics may need mechanical abrasion, while metals may need abrasion, solvent wipe, primer, or chemical preparation. Purge the cartridge, install the mixer, and confirm even color before applying to parts.
Technical Details and Documentation
Technical references for 521 with Accelerator 19 list acrylic chemistry, 20 to 30 minute working time, and service temperature up to 300 F. Review current product and safety information from Parker LORD before production use.
