Description

LORD 7545 is an equal-mix, two-component urethane adhesive built for bonding FRP, SMC, and other reinforced plastics with little surface preparation. The F curative extends working time to 45 to 65 minutes at 75°F (24°C), giving crews room to position large panels before the bond starts to set. This straight-side plastic pail holds the F-side curative for shops running the 7545-A/F system in volume rather than single handheld cartridges.

### Where This Urethane Adhesive Fits

Fiberglass panel assembly, truck body and trailer construction, and SMC-to-metal bonding all lean on LORD 7545 when the joint needs structural strength without a long clamp cycle. The extended working time of the F curative helps on large parts, since operators get close to an hour of open time to align panels, apply pressure, and check fit before handling strength develops. LORD 7545 also bonds primed metals and combinations of dissimilar substrates, which is useful on mixed-material assemblies where a single adhesive needs to carry the whole joint. Surfaces should be free of grease, dirt, and other contaminants before bonding. Wipe plastics with a dry rag or a rag dampened with solvent, and prime or grit-blast metal, then solvent-wash for the strongest bond.

### How the Bond Holds Up

Once cured, LORD 7545 resists weathering, humidity, and salt spray, and the off-white finish holds up in visible joints without a paint step. The adhesive is non-flammable and exceeds U.S. DOT requirements, so shops can run it without explosion-proof dispensing equipment. Full cure takes 24 hours at 75°F (24°C), and heat up to 250°F (121°C) speeds that timeline for shops on a tighter production schedule. Recommended bondline thickness is 10 to 40 mil, though the adhesive can bridge larger gaps on parts with irregular mating surfaces. Cured joints also hold up to most cleaning and painting processes without losing bond strength.

| Shelf Life | 6 months, unopened, 65-85°F (18-30°C) | Chemical Concepts stocks LORD 7545F alongside the full line of [urethane adhesives](https://www.chemical-concepts.com/product-category/urethane-adhesives/) for plastic, composite, and metal bonding. Clean tools before cure with acetone or MEK, never alcohol, and once the pail is opened, protect the remaining material from moisture with a desiccant cartridge or dry nitrogen cover to hold shelf life. If a bonded assembly ever needs to come apart, heating the joint above 300°F (149°C) softens the cured adhesive enough to separate the parts.
