Description

Permabond 802 Adhesive is a low-viscosity modified ethyl cyanoacrylate for production lines that need very fast fixture and better heat resistance than a general-purpose instant adhesive. Permabond lists this grade for metal, rubber, and plastic bonding, with 90 to 110 cP viscosity, 0.15 mm maximum gap fill, and fixture in about 10 to 15 seconds on steel, Buna N rubber, and phenolic.

Permabond 802 Adhesive Benefits

  • High temperature resistance supports assemblies that see paint bake cycles or other short heat exposures.
  • Low viscosity helps the material wet close-fitting parts and spread into a thin bond line.
  • Single-component chemistry keeps setup simple because there is no mixing, metering, or heat cure step.
  • Fast fixture helps keep hand assembly, repair, and high-speed production moving.
  • Good adhesion to rubber, metals, and many plastics covers a wide range of maintenance and OEM jobs.

Buyers typically use Permabond 802 Adhesive where parts fit closely and the joint needs fast handling strength without a long clamp cycle. It is a practical fit for metal tabs, rubber components, small plastic housings, and mixed-material assemblies that are assembled in volume.

Common Applications

  • Bonding metal clips, brackets, and trim components in production assembly.
  • Joining rubber seals, gaskets, and bumpers where quick handling strength matters.
  • Securing plastic parts in electronics, appliance, and general industrial builds.
  • Supporting repair work on small components that need a thin, fast-setting adhesive film.

Surface Prep and Bond Line Control

Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of grease before application. Permabond recommends acetone or isopropanol for degreasing, and light abrasion on aluminum, copper, and copper alloys to remove oxide before bonding. For difficult or porous materials, the manufacturer recommends an activator. For polypropylene, polyethylene, PTFE, and silicone, use the specified polyolefin primer before bonding.
