Description
Permabond 820 high temperature cyanoacrylate is a clear, low-viscosity instant adhesive for close-fitting metal, rubber, and plastic assemblies exposed to elevated temperatures. The modified ethyl cyanoacrylate flows across prepared surfaces, cures rapidly in a thin bond line, and is rated for high-temperature service up to 200 C under suitable joint conditions.
Where It Fits
This grade is designed for small components that need fast fixturing and greater heat resistance than a standard instant adhesive. Applications can include metal clips, rubber parts, plastic housings, electrical components, and production assemblies that later pass through a heated process. Its 90 to 110 cP viscosity favors tight joints rather than wide gaps. Confirm performance on the actual materials because surface energy, oxide layers, plastic formulation, joint stress, and operating temperature all affect the finished bond.
Surface Preparation and Cure
Surfaces should be clean, dry, and grease-free. Light abrasion can help remove oxide from aluminum, copper, and related alloys before final cleaning. Apply the adhesive sparingly to one surface, bring the parts together promptly, and hold alignment until handling strength develops. The technical data reports typical handling strength in 10 to 15 seconds on steel, Buna N rubber, and phenolic, with full strength after 24 hours. Larger gaps or acidic surfaces may slow the cure.
