Using Permabond Initiator 44
Apply a thin, consistent coat of initiator to one surface. Place the compatible Permabond TA adhesive on the opposite surface, assemble the joint, and hold the parts in position through the handling stage defined by the adhesive data sheet. The initiator is a reactive monomer rather than a solvent-based primer, so the process does not rely on a solvent flash-off period before assembly.
Do not mix the bottle contents directly into the adhesive unless the selected product instructions explicitly require that method. Keep applicators dedicated to the initiator and prevent adhesive from contacting the bottle opening. Close the bottle after dispensing and follow the current safety data sheet for ventilation, personal protection, spill response, and storage. Cure rate and final properties depend on the exact TA adhesive, substrate, joint design, and shop conditions.
A controlled workstation separates initiator tools from adhesive tools and uses clear labels for each surface. Operators should apply the materials in the same order on every part, assemble within the documented process window, and avoid disturbing the joint while handling strength develops. When geometry makes one-side application difficult, review the joint design with technical support rather than changing the activation method. Inspect sample failures to confirm whether the joint, substrate surface, or application process needs careful adjustment.
