Description
CHT QSil 244 is a two-part silicone encapsulant engineered for thermally conductive potting where heat has to move away from a component instead of building up inside the housing. The brown, addition cure system cures to a repairable 45 Shore A elastomer that stays flexible through thermal cycling.
Where this encapsulant is used
QSil 244 fits rollers, thermal interface layers, and electronic potting where the assembly runs warm in normal service and needs a path for that heat to escape. The 100 percent solids, solvent free formula avoids the voids that vapor loss can leave in a sealed pour, and the low modulus cure keeps stress off leads and small components as the housing heats and cools through normal duty cycles. The brown color distinguishes it on the bench from clear or gray potting stock, which cuts down on mix-up risk when several silicone systems sit on the same shelf.
How this encapsulant performs in service
Because QSil 244 is thermally conductive, it moves heat toward the case wall rather than holding it against the potted component, which helps protect temperature sensitive parts in continuous duty assemblies. The cured elastomer stays soft enough at 45 Shore A to flex with the housing, and like other QSil potting systems, a technician can cut back into it for rework instead of replacing the whole potted assembly. Heat cure shortens the working cycle compared with a room temperature cure, so batch scheduling should build in oven time rather than open bench time.
