Description
Chem-Set Mold Life Extender Part B, 1 Gallon is the curative side of a two-component mold life extender coating that renews the working face of production silicone molds. Combined with Part A at 50/50 by volume and applied to a cleaned, cured mold, it bonds permanently to the silicone and restores a smooth casting surface, which pushes back the point where a worn mold has to be scrapped.
Where Mold Life Extender Is Used
Cast stone, architectural concrete, and GFRC producers wear silicone molds through repeated pulls, alkaline exposure, and surface pickup. As the mold face breaks down, defects begin to show in the finished castings. This coating rebuilds the face so the mold returns to clean production. Common uses include:
- Renewing worn production molds in cast stone and concrete casting.
- Extending service on high volume architectural and GFRC molds.
- Recovering detail on molds that have started to roughen or lose surface.
How to Mix and Apply Mold Life Extender
Blend Part B with Part A at a 50/50 ratio by volume and mix until uniform. Apply by spray or brush to a clean, dry mold. Spraying produces a more even film than brushing and yields the best working surface. The coating bonds to the silicone and cannot be removed, so treat the first application as permanent and prove it on a sample mold before running a full set. The 1 gallon size fits smaller mold inventories or a first trial batch.
