Description
QSil 60 silicone is a red, two-part condensation-cure silicone for potting and encapsulating electronics, sensors, and assemblies that need thermal stability and flexible protection. The base can be catalyzed with DBT or QSil Deep Section Catalyst depending on cure depth and process needs.
QSil 60 silicone Benefits
- Self-leveling liquid flow helps material settle around components, leads, and housings.
- Red color gives production teams a visible fill for inspection and assembly control.
- Condensation-cure chemistry supports room-temperature potting without a required oven cycle.
- Catalyst options let shops tune cure speed for standard or deeper sections.
- Thermal stability makes the material useful around electronics and heated equipment.
Use this material when a rigid epoxy is not the right fit and the assembly needs a silicone elastomer around the part. It can support shock, vibration, and environmental protection when the correct primer, mix ratio, and cure schedule are followed.
Where It Fits
- Electronics potting where a red silicone fill helps inspection.
- Sensor, connector, and control modules that need flexible encapsulation.
- Assemblies exposed to heat, vibration, or repeated thermal cycling.
- Prototype and repair work that needs room-temperature silicone cure.
- Production cells using DBT or Deep Section Catalyst process windows.
QSil 60 silicone Mixing Notes
Measure catalyst by weight, mix in a clean compatible container, and scrape the sides and bottom until the batch is uniform. CHT data states that 0.5 percent DBT catalyst or 10 percent QSil Deep Section Catalyst can provide about one hour gel time and a 24 hour cure time.
Run a trial pour before using the material on critical parts. Addition of catalyst, part geometry, humidity, and section thickness can change the working window. Keep surfaces clean and confirm primer needs before releasing a production job.
Technical Details And Documentation
CHT literature lists the QSil 60 family as a red, condensation-cure potting material with excellent thermal stability, 10:1 Deep Section Catalyst option, and approximately 55,000 cP viscosity. Review current information from CHT Group before setting the cure process.
