Description
QSil 960 potting silicone from CHT Group is a self-leveling, two-component, condensation-cure encapsulant built for potting electronic and electrical assemblies that need to survive extreme temperature swings. It cures to a red, elastomeric silicone with a usable temperature range of -115C to 260C, which covers everything from cold-storage electronics to components sitting close to heat sources, and it is commonly specified for LED driver potting, connector encapsulation, and general electronics protection.
How QSil 960 Potting Silicone Cures
The base resin pairs with either a 0.5% DBT catalyst or a 10% Deep Section catalyst by weight, both sold separately so shops can dial in cure speed to the batch size and enclosure geometry on hand. The DBT ratio gives a self-leveling mix with roughly a 60-minute work life and a full cure in 24 to 36 hours at room temperature, and the catalyst level can be adjusted up or down to speed up or slow down that cure window to match your production schedule. Keep unmixed catalyst and base stored separately and within shelf-life dating, since premature exposure to moisture can shorten working time.
Performance Once QSil 960 Potting Silicone Cures
Cured properties include a Shore A hardness of 50, 130% elongation at break, and a specific gravity of 1.42, with a dielectric strength of 550 V/mil and a dissipation factor of 0.02 for applications where electrical insulation matters as much as mechanical protection. Shelf life on the uncured material runs 12 months when stored at or below 4.4C, and the cured gel remains flexible enough to absorb vibration and thermal cycling without cracking away from potted components.
