Description
The Techcon 8mm E-style retaining ring is a stainless steel snap ring built to hold a shaft or piston in a fixed axial position inside a machined groove. It presses onto the shaft from the open end and springs into the groove, taking up load across nearly the full circumference of the shaft rather than at a single point. That geometry lets a thin, low-cost ring carry the repeated back-and-forth load a dispensing valve piston sees over thousands of cycles. As one of the dispenser parts that keep a pinch-tube or micro-shot valve running true, this ring belongs in the spares drawer next to pistons, cushions, and seals.
Where These Dispenser Parts Fit
This ring fits an 8mm shaft diameter and measures 0.9mm thick, sized to the piston and shut-off shafts used in Techcon TS1212-family pinch-tube valves and similar micro-shot dispensing bodies. Techs pull the worn ring during a piston or cushion rebuild, since the ring itself wears at the groove contact points long before the piston bore does. Keeping a few of these dispenser parts on hand means a piston rebuild does not stall waiting on a single retaining ring.
Dispenser Parts Specifications
| Spec | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | External (E-style) retaining ring |
| Shaft diameter | 8mm |
| Thickness | 0.9mm |
| Material | Spring steel, zinc or stainless finish |
| Installation | Snaps into a machined shaft groove with retaining ring pliers |
Order this ring alongside the matching piston or shut-off shaft rebuild kit so a valve teardown goes back together in one pass. Buying two or three at a time is cheap insurance, since the ring is easy to distort or lose during a tight teardown and the valve stays down until a replacement is on hand. Techcon engineers the TS1212 platform this ring services. For the broader dispensing valve and mixer lineup, see our dispensing valves and mixer parts category, which carries the pistons, cushions, and seals that typically get replaced in the same rebuild.
