Description
This siastik soft pad is a 3/8 in low profile backup pad built to flex over curves, body lines, and contoured panels rather than hold a dead flat plane. At 5 in diameter and threaded 5/16-24, it takes the place of a firm or medium pad whenever the work has enough shape that a stiffer pad would bridge across a feature and leave it unsanded.
Where This Siastik Soft Pad Fits
Fender crowns, wheel arches, molded plastic trim, and other compound curves are where this soft pad earns its place on the bench, since its low profile and softer face let the disc wrap the shape instead of skipping across the high points. Auto body and RV repair shops keep one of these alongside a firm pad so a technician can switch backup pads to match the panel instead of forcing one pad to cover every shape on the vehicle.
How This Siastik Soft Pad Holds Up
The pad threads onto a 5/16-24 spindle the same as sia’s medium and firm pads in this size, so switching between them on the same sander takes seconds. PSA discs press directly onto the face, and the NH construction runs standard non-hole paper without extra dust port cutouts. Because the low profile design trades some rigidity for flex, inspect the face more often on curved work for uneven wear where the disc concentrates pressure on tight radii.
