Description
Sika AnchorFix-1 is a fast-curing, two-component polyester anchoring adhesive for setting threaded rods, reinforcing steel, bolts, and specialty fastening systems. It is intended for uncracked concrete, solid masonry, hard natural stone, and solid rock when the substrate and anchor design have been verified for the application.
Sika AnchorFix-1 Applications And Base Materials
Use the cartridge for common anchoring work where an expansion-free fixing is preferred, including equipment attachments, storage and security installations, residential projects, and selected stone or masonry fastening. The non-sag consistency supports horizontal, vertical, and overhead placement. Natural stone varies in strength, porosity, and staining response, so test an inconspicuous sample before committing to visible work.
The anchor hole must be clean, dry, and free of oil, grease, frost, and loose particles. Confirm that concrete, masonry, or stone has the required strength. When substrate strength is unknown, use an appropriate pull-out test and follow the project engineer’s anchor design. Clean threaded rods and reinforcing bars before insertion so surface contamination does not interfere with the bond.
Hole diameter, embedment depth, edge distance, anchor spacing, base-material strength, and service load are design inputs rather than field guesses. Use the current technical documentation for the selected rod or reinforcing bar and confirm that the fastening detail satisfies applicable project requirements. For visible stone, evaluate both bond performance and the chance of staining or discoloration on a representative sample.
How Sika AnchorFix-1 Mixes And Cures
The cartridge meters components A and B at 10:1 by volume through a static mixer. Unscrew the cap, open the cartridge film as directed, attach a new mixer, load the cartridge into a suitable dispensing gun, and extrude until the material is uniformly mixed. Fill the prepared hole from the back to reduce trapped air, then insert the anchor with a twisting motion while the adhesive remains workable.
Working time changes with cartridge temperature. It is about 18 minutes at 41 to 50 degrees F, 10 minutes at 50 to 68 degrees F, and 6 minutes at 68 to 77 degrees F. Do not load or disturb the anchor before the required loading time has elapsed. If cured material remains in the nozzle after a work interruption, install a fresh static mixer before resuming.
Plan the sequence so every hole is drilled, cleaned, inspected, and ready before material is extruded. Discard the initial unmixed output according to the application instructions, keep the mixer tip seated near the back of the hole, and withdraw it as the cavity fills. Mark or otherwise control the anchor position during cure so it cannot rotate, settle, or shift before loading.
