Description
Sikaflex 1A Polyurethane Sealant is a one-component, moisture-cured, non-sag elastomeric sealant built for construction joints that need lasting flexibility rather than a rigid patch. This aluminum gray 10.1 oz cartridge meets Federal Specification TT-S-00230C Type II Class A and ASTM C-920 Type S, Grade NS, Class 35, Use T, NT, O, M, G, I, and A, so it carries the paperwork most spec-driven jobs require before a sealant gets approved for use.
Where Sikaflex 1A Polyurethane Sealant Fits the Job
This sealant is designed for joints where the sealant depth will not exceed 1/2 inch, which covers most window perimeters, door frames, reglets, flashing details, and common roofing tie-ins. It also works as a general construction adhesive in fillet and small-joint conditions where a bead needs to stay put on both vertical and horizontal surfaces. Sikaflex 1A remains placeable at temperatures down to 40 degrees F, which extends the usable install season compared with sealants that need warmer conditions to gun and tool properly.
Elastomeric Performance for Dissimilar Materials
Because Sikaflex 1A cures to an elastomeric, non-sag bead, it holds up as an elastic adhesive between materials with different coefficients of thermal expansion, such as metal against masonry or wood against concrete. That flexibility also makes it a fit for submerged joint conditions, including canal and reservoir work, where the sealant must move with the structure without losing adhesion or splitting at the bond line. Tool the joint promptly after gunning and keep surfaces clean and sound so the sealant can develop full adhesion before movement cycling begins.

Confirm substrate compatibility and joint design against the published technical data sheet before specifying this sealant on a submerged or structural application. Keep the cartridge and application surfaces within the recommended temperature range, and prime porous or questionable substrates per Sika guidance when adhesion is in doubt.
