Description
The Specialinsert 620 tool is an automatic installation spindle for the Specialinsert 307 series of Ensat self-tapping threaded inserts, sized for 10-24 thread. It chucks into a standard drill or drill press and drives the insert square to the workpiece, releasing automatically at the preset depth. The result is a clean, repeatable thread anchor in plastic, composite, or soft metal without hand-tapping each hole.
Where the Specialinsert 620 tool fits
This tool is for shops installing 307 series Ensat inserts in production volumes where consistent depth and squareness matter. Typical users are injection molding operations adding metal threads to plastic housings, composites and carbon fiber fabrication, signage and POP display builders, and any assembly that needs a reliable threaded boss in a non-metal substrate. The 10-24 sized 620 matches the 307 insert at the same thread size, so the tool engages the insert’s internal thread to drive it.
How the Specialinsert 620 tool performs on the line
The 620 uses a threaded spindle that engages the insert’s bore. As the drill spins, the insert is driven into a pre-drilled receiver hole until the spindle hits the preset stop, at which point it backs out without stripping the freshly cut thread. Depth is adjustable by sliding the shell up or down the shank and tightening the locking screw, so the same tool can be set for flush, sub-flush, or proud installations.
