Surebonder spray 500 adhesive equipment combines spray and extrusion modes in one motorized hot melt gun. The Spray-500 uses 5/8-inch (15 mm) glue sticks and includes the red SN-01 spray nozzle plus the SN-02 standard nozzle. It is built for shops that need broad adhesive coverage on larger surfaces and a conventional bead from the same tool after a controlled nozzle change.
Using Surebonder Spray 500 Adhesive Equipment
For spray operation, plug the gun into a standard 120 V outlet and allow about 10 minutes for heat-up. The green ready light indicates that the gun is ready. Connect a separate air compressor through the quick connector and set the regulator to 70 to 80 psi. Air pressure and the front air-flow valve influence the spiral size and coating pattern. More air produces a larger spiral and a thinner sprayed layer.
Insert a compatible glue stick into the inlet tube, then pull the trigger so the motorized feed engages it. Apply adhesive and join the surfaces promptly. The manual specifies long-open-time sticks for spray work. Surebonder 425R10 and 930R10 formulas can spray or extrude, while Q-711, Q-725, and Q-735 are identified for extrusion only. Matching the stick formula to the nozzle and application prevents a setup that cannot deliver the intended pattern.
Changing Surebonder Spray 500 Adhesive Modes
Switching to bead extrusion requires turning the gun off, disconnecting the air hose, and letting the tool cool completely. The standard SN-02 nozzle is used for extrusion. Do not attempt a nozzle change while the gun is hot or operating. The manual calls for gloves and a wrench during the change, with both sealing rings positioned correctly before the replacement nozzle is tightened.
The feed system moves the stick backward about 3/8 inch when the trigger is released. This relieves pressure in the melt chamber and helps limit dripping. Do not pull a glue stick backward through the motorized feed. When changing formulas, feed the remaining material through the gun and purge with at least one stick of the new formula. Before shutdown, dispensing for five seconds helps prepare the tool for the next start.
