Description
SynthoGlass PPR-220 is a solvent-free, chemically resistant two-part epoxy primer applied between an epoxy filler patch and the SynthoGlass repair wrap. The primer drives bond strength between the substrate and the composite system, especially under chemical or wet service. Also sold under the alias SUBLV for cross-reference.
Benefits
- High-build capability without slumping or sagging
- Re-coatable as soon as dry to the touch
- Resistant to inorganic acids, alkalis, salts, and organic media
- Machinable once cured
Common Applications
- Primer coat on prepared metal surfaces before wrap installation
- Layer over epoxy fillers used to plug pits, patches, or geometric transitions
- Field repair of pipelines, vessels, and structural steel where leak-repair or composite reinforcement is required
Surface Prep and Application
- Substrate temperature: minimum 5 deg C (40 deg F) or at least 3 deg C (37 deg F) above dew point
- Warm base component to 15.5-25 deg C (60-77 deg F) before mixing
- BiPack option: pull internal divider, knead to mix, snip corner, apply directly
- Quart kit: conventional kit mixing in pail or pan
- Over-coat within 3 hours of application
Typical Properties
- Hardness, Shore D: 90 (Rockwell R: 100)
- Compressive strength @ 75 deg F: 19,400 psi
- Tensile shear adhesion: 2,630 psi
- Flexural strength: 10,000 psi
- Glass transition (Tg): 240 deg F with 248 deg F cure
- Long-term immersion: up to 70 deg C (158 deg F)
- Intermittent pressurized steam: up to 120 deg C (248 deg F)
- Dry heat: in excess of 200 deg C (392 deg F) load-dependent
