Application Guidance

Bonding surfaces should be clean and free of dust, dirt, and grease before application. Spray from 6-10 inches away at a 90° angle to the substrate and apply a consistent coating that avoids puddling, targeting 80-100% coverage at 2.5-3.0 dry grams per square foot. For porous surfaces and exposed edges, apply two coats and allow the adhesive to dry fully until tacky without transfer before assembly. Position parts carefully and apply 40-60 PLI using a nip roller or a properly used 3-inch J-roller. Full bond strength develops in 24-48 hours depending on temperature and humidity. Do not use with plasticized vinyl, flexible plastics, expanded or extruded polystyrene, polyethylene, polypropylene, or copper/copper alloy substrates, and avoid spray equipment containing aluminum or copper components.

Typical Use Cases

  • Laminate bonding in shop fabrication
  • Panel and wood composite bonding
  • Countertop and fixture laminating
  • Leather and rubber bonding applications
  • General contact adhesive work in portable canister spray systems
  • Trim, routing, and post-bond fabrication workflows

Target Industries and Buyers

  • Millwork and woodworking shops
  • Cabinet and fixture manufacturers
  • Laminating and fabrication facilities
  • OEM assembly operations
  • Interior build-out and commercial construction trades
  • Industrial maintenance and production teams

Performance Advantages

Within the canister contact adhesive category, TacBond S5850 combines portable spray delivery, fast dry time, and a relatively long open time to support efficient layup and positioning. Its high solids content and web spray pattern make it suitable for controlled adhesive application across common laminating and fabrication substrates, while allowing bonded assemblies to be trimmed or routed immediately after joining.
