Description

The CounterBalance 12×18 workstation bracket is a powder-coated, primed steel support bracket built to carry countertops, workbenches, and other floating work surfaces off a load-bearing wall without visible legs underneath. At 12 inches deep by 18 inches long, this size handles a standard overhang range for kitchen islands, ADA-height counters, and garage or shop workbenches where the surface needs support beyond what the cabinet base alone can carry. Fabricators buy this hardware in pairs, one left and one right, and this primed-import finish is meant to be field-painted or powder-coated to match the final installation.

Where This Workstation Bracket Gets Used

Countertop fabricators spec this bracket for floating stone, quartz, and butcher-block surfaces where a customer wants an open, leg-free look beneath an island or bar overhang. The same bracket shows up on garage and shop builds for workbenches, tool stations, and folding or drop-down work surfaces that need to carry real load without a permanent leg in the way. ADA-compliant service counters and reception desks use the same hardware for the open knee space a wheelchair-accessible counter requires. Because the bracket mounts to studs rather than relying on the countertop or cabinet for support, it carries load independently of whatever sits above it.

Installing This Workstation Bracket

Locate and mark load-bearing studs before drilling. The bracket is only as strong as what it is lagged into, and mounting into drywall alone will not hold rated load. Use lag bolts or structural screws sized for the mounting holes and rated for the anticipated load, not the general-purpose hardware that sometimes ships with lighter-duty shelf brackets. Keep the overhang within the roughly 6-inch guideline beyond the bracket’s own length. Longer unsupported overhangs increase force on the mounting points and can exceed the rated capacity even when the bracket itself is undamaged. Because this is the primed-import finish, plan a paint or powder-coat step before final installation if the brackets will be visible in the finished space.
