Clean Efflorescence and Rust Marks Without the Fumes: Try Eff-Erayza from Dry-Treat

The Dry-Treat product line is still pretty new at Chemical Concepts but we love hearing the good reports from our customers as they try the array products. One cleaning product in particular has been proving to be a new customer favorite: Eff-Erayza.

This product offers the strong cleaning power of traditional acid cleaner, but without the dangerous and noxious fumes found in competing products.

Eff-ErayzaEff-Erayza™ is an acidic cleaner for removing mineral residues including:

  • efflorescence,
  • soap scum,
  • grout haze,
  • rust marks,
  • limescale and
  • mortar mess.

Since Eff-Erayza does not produce noxious fumes, it can be used indoors and outdoors. This product does not burn skin upon contact, but for extended use Dry-Treat suggests wearing gloves.

This cleaner is suitable for commercial and home use on:

  • brickwork,
  • patios,
  • floors,
  • walls,
  • facades,
  • showers,
  • masonry,
  • patios,
  • driveways, and
  • garage floors.

What Types of Surfaces are Best-Suited for Eff-Erayza?

bricks treated with eff-erayzaEff-Erayza is suitable for a wide range of non-acid sensitive stones and other hard surfaces, including:

  • granite,
  • slate,
  • basalt,
  • brick,
  • glass,
  • ceramic and porcelain tile,
  • terracotta and more.

Acidic cleaners are commonly used to clean paving and poured concrete surfaces. If you are using Eff-Erayza on concrete or other cementitious surfaces, neutralize the surface as soon as possible after cleaning to minimize etching, with something alkaline, such as Oxy-Klenza dissolved in water, then rinse thoroughly with fresh water. This product will cause almost zero corrosion of metals, except uncoated aluminum.

On the decorative side (rather than the cleaning side), Eff-Erayza is effective for etching marble, limestone and other acid sensitive stones to achieve a ‘honed’ (or matte) finish.

Just be aware that Eff-Erayza is acidic and will etch / damage acid sensitive stones such as marble, limestone, travertine and onyx as well as concrete / grout products and uncoated aluminum. Before using the product, always take the time to read all of the safety directions and precautions carefully.

Dry-Treat has produced a helpful video on How to Use Eff-Erayza™ on Efflorescence.

Preparing Concrete Floors for Coating

If you are using Eff-Erazya™ to prepare a concrete floor before applying a coating, it is a good idea to neutralize any remaining acid. This will ensure that the substrate is stable for the coating to bond. To do so, just dissolve a cup of Oxy-Klenza™ (or other pH base cleaner) into a bucket of fresh water and pour it over the concrete that was acid etched and let it sit for a minimum of 3 minutes.  Then thoroughly flush several times with fresh water to rinse away the solution and any salts that may have formed.

Eff-Erayza is available in both 490 ml and quart sizes.
