Description
Araldite 2012 resin is the resin side of a two-component Huntsman epoxy adhesive system used for fast room-temperature bonding. Huntsman lists ARALDITE 2012-1 A/B as a rapid, multipurpose epoxy adhesive for metals, ceramics, wood, glass, rubber, and rigid plastic substrates.
Araldite 2012 resin Benefits
- Pairs with the matching hardener to create a high-toughness structural epoxy.
- Room-temperature cure supports shop bonding without heat fixtures for many jobs.
- Flowing liquid consistency helps wet close-fitting joints and prepared surfaces.
- Multi-substrate compatibility supports mixed-material assembly work.
- Low-shrinkage epoxy behavior helps keep bonded parts aligned through cure.
Use this resin only as part of the complete ARALDITE 2012 adhesive system. Confirm the matching hardener, mix ratio, dispensing method, and current safety data before releasing it to a production bench.
Araldite 2012 resin Applications
- Metal bracket and fixture bonding after abrasion and solvent wipe.
- Ceramic, glass, and rigid plastic assembly where epoxy is specified.
- Wood or composite repair work that needs a two-part structural adhesive.
- Small-batch industrial bonding with measured resin and hardener.
- Maintenance repairs where a fast-curing epoxy reduces fixture time.
Surface Preparation and Use
Remove oil, dust, weak coatings, and loose oxide before bonding. Abrade metals where the job allows it, then clean with a compatible solvent and let the surface dry. Bond soon after preparation so the clean surface does not pick up shop contamination.
Measure resin and hardener according to the current technical data sheet. Mix until color and texture are uniform, then apply enough adhesive to wet both surfaces without starving the joint.
Technical Details and Documentation
Published ARALDITE 2012 data describes a two-component, room-temperature curing epoxy adhesive with high strength and toughness, fast cure, and broad substrate fit. Review current documentation from Huntsman before production use.
