Description
Araldite Fastweld 10 epoxy is a rapid-setting, two-component paste with a convenient 1:1 mix ratio by volume or weight. It builds strong bonds in a short window, which makes it a fit for small-parts assembly and repair work where a crew cannot wait around for a slow-cure structural adhesive to grab. The mixed paste starts out black on one side and white on the other, so a visual check confirms complete mixing before the joint is closed.
Where Araldite Fastweld 10 Epoxy Is Used
This grade bonds plastics, metals, cardboard, and wood, and it runs in aerospace and defense shops, general manufacturing, marine builds, metal fabrication, sign and display work, and transportation and specialty vehicle assembly. The gray mixed paste cures to a workable strength fast enough for repair jobs and small-batch production runs alike. Fabrication shops keep it on hand for jig repairs, fixture rebuilds, and field fixes where downtime on a production line costs more than the part itself.
How Araldite Fastweld 10 Epoxy Holds Up
Pot life runs 3 to 4 minutes at 25 C, with full cure reached in about 4 hours at the same temperature. Mixed viscosity sits near 250,000 cP, thick enough to stay put on a vertical joint without running or sagging out of a gap. Dispense it through a 0.25 in, 20-element static mixing nozzle on manual or pneumatic equipment. Hand mixing is not recommended given how fast the paste sets once the two sides combine, and a static mixer keeps the ratio consistent shot to shot instead of relying on an operator’s eye.
Once cured, the bond line resists common shop solvents and holds up under normal handling loads, which is why it shows up in structural repair work rather than only cosmetic patching. Clean and dry the substrate before application, since oil, grease, or dust on either surface cuts into bond strength regardless of how well the paste itself performs.
