Description

Chem-Set VST 3025C Tape is an ultra-thin transparent bonding tape for joining clear materials and finished metals without a bulky foam layer. This 1 in wide version uses a 100 percent acrylic construction with a nominal thickness of 10 mil. The clear format helps preserve the appearance of glass, display, sign, and fabricated assemblies while creating a continuous bonded interface.

Thin Bond Lines for Clear Assemblies

VST 3025C is designed for glass, glass epoxy, stainless steel, galvanized steel, anodized aluminum, and coated aluminum. Its low-profile construction is useful where the parts must remain close together and where a thicker acrylic foam tape would create a visible edge or change alignment. The transparent carrier also supports applications in which the bond line can be seen through one of the substrates.

Common uses include attaching trim, mounting clear panels, joining display components, securing decorative parts, and laminating compatible sheet materials. A continuous tape layer distributes the bond across the contact area and avoids the holes, point loads, and visible hardware associated with mechanical fasteners.

Surface Preparation and Installation

Bond performance starts with clean, dry, well-prepared surfaces. Remove dust, oil, processing residue, and loose coatings with a cleaner that is compatible with both substrates. Use a clean lint-free wipe and allow the surface to dry completely. Test coated or plastic parts before production because surface energy, additives, texture, and coating adhesion can change the result.

Apply the tape to the first surface without stretching it. Use firm, even pressure across the full width to build contact and remove trapped air. Keep the liner in place until the second part is ready, then align the assembly carefully before making contact. Once the surfaces meet, press the entire bonded area again. Avoid loading the joint immediately, since acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive develops bond as it wets the surfaces over time.

Design the joint so the tape is loaded primarily in shear or compression instead of continuous peel. Rounded corners, unsupported edges, and parts that flex away from one another can concentrate force at the tape edge. Use enough bonded area for the expected load and keep the application surface flat enough for full contact. Temperature, moisture, cleaners, sunlight, and sustained load should be included in the test plan. Transparent assemblies also benefit from careful placement because air bubbles, fingerprints, dust, and wrinkles remain visible after bonding. A fixture or alignment stop can improve repeatability when the tape is applied across multiple parts.
