Description
Chem-Set Mold Life Extender Part A, 5 Gallon is the resin side of a two-component mold life extender coating that renews the working face of production silicone molds. Mixed with Part B at 50/50 by volume and applied to a cleaned, cured mold, it bonds permanently to the silicone and restores a smooth casting surface that would otherwise wear out and force an early mold rebuild.
Where Mold Life Extender Is Used
Cast stone, architectural concrete, and GFRC shops run silicone molds through hundreds of pulls. Abrasion, alkaline attack, and surface pickup slowly degrade the mold face and start to telegraph into the castings. The coating rebuilds that face so the mold keeps producing clean parts. Common uses include:
- Refreshing worn production molds in cast stone and concrete casting.
- Extending service on high volume architectural and GFRC molds.
- Recovering surface detail on molds that have started to roughen or pick up.
How to Mix and Apply Mold Life Extender
Combine Part A with Part B at a 50/50 ratio by volume and mix thoroughly. Apply by spray or brush to a clean, dry mold surface. Spraying lays down a more even film than brushing and gives the best final surface. The coating bonds to the silicone and cannot be removed, so treat the first coat as permanent and test on a sample mold before committing a full production set.
