Description
CHT Primer 3 is a solvent-based CHT USA primer built to prep non-porous surfaces before applying CHT one-part or two-part cure silicone sealants and elastomers. It goes on as a thin, fast-flashing coat and leaves a pale yellow film that promotes a mechanical and chemical bond between the substrate and the silicone that follows.
Where This CHT USA Primer Is Used
Use this primer only where the current CHT technical data identifies both the substrate and silicone system as compatible. Surface preparation, application method, film thickness, flash-off time, and the permitted interval before sealant application must come from the product TDS rather than a generic primer routine.
How the CHT USA Primer Performs
Published product data identifies a slightly yellow, solvent-based primer with approximate density of 0.8 g/cm3 and a 43°C flash point. These properties require the current safety data sheet, suitable ventilation, ignition-source control, personal protective equipment, and applicable flammable-liquid storage practices. Do not use this description as a substitute for the SDS or site-specific safety review.

Need Help?
Need help matching a primer to your substrate and sealant chemistry? Call (800) 220-1966 or email [email protected].
Before release to production, document the substrate, cleaning method, application amount, flash-off interval, sealant batch, and adhesion-test result. Repeat the qualification whenever the substrate finish, cleaning chemistry, primer lot, or silicone system changes.
