Primer 3 Clear is used on metals, natural and synthetic rubbers, polyester, nylon, and other non-porous surfaces before silicone sealants, gels, or encapsulants are applied. CHT describes the primer as carried in odorless mineral spirits, which evaporate after application and leave a thin reactive layer for silicone adhesion. It is a good fit when a colorless to pale yellow primer film is preferred over a tinted inspection primer.

Surface preparation still carries the result. Parts should be dry and free of oil, grease, dust, release agent, and loose contamination. Non-porous surfaces should be solvent degreased before priming. Apply by wipe, brush, or spray in a thin film and let the carrier flash before the silicone is placed.
