Description
CONAPOXY FR-1820 is a two-component, filled, flame-retardant epoxy potting kit supplied here in a quart size. It is used for electronic encapsulation when a short pot life, UL94 V-0 flame rating, and non-abrasive filler are useful to the process.
CONAPOXY FR-1820 Benefits
- UL94 V-0 flame rating supports electronic assemblies with flame-retardant material requirements.
- Short pot life helps parts move toward handling faster than longer open-time systems.
- Non-abrasive filler reduces wear on metering and dispensing equipment.
- 6,900 cP mixed viscosity gives a filled system that can still flow into many potting cavities.
- Quart kit size fits evaluation work, smaller production runs, and controlled maintenance stock.
This material is built for potting and encapsulation of electronic components, modules, circuit boards, assemblies, and related devices. It is best selected as a full resin and hardener system, not as a single-component substitute.
CONAPOXY FR-1820 Applications
- Electronic module potting where UL94 V-0 flame performance is required.
- Circuit board and assembly encapsulation in controlled production runs.
- Bench casting where a shorter pot life supports faster movement through the shop.
- Meter-mix potting where non-abrasive filler helps protect equipment.
- Small batch qualification work before moving to larger containers.
Surface Preparation And Use
Keep components dry and clean before encapsulation. Remove contamination from cases, boards, and fixtures, then stage the job so the short working window is not wasted after mixing.
Mix both components to a uniform blend and degas when voids could affect insulation or long-term reliability. Check fill depth, part temperature, and cure schedule on trial pieces before approving the process for customer assemblies.
Technical Details And Documentation
ELANTAS lists CONAPOXY FR-1820 as an epoxy potting material with UL94 V-0 flame rating, 90 degrees C electrical and mechanical RTI, 6,900 cP initial mixed viscosity at 25 degrees C, and Shore D hardness of 80 to 85. Review current product-family information from ELANTAS before use.
