Description

Devcon R-Flex belt repair is a fast-curing black urethane system for rebuilding tears, holes, gouges, worn top ply, clips, and splices on heavy SBR conveyor belts. It begins as a self-leveling liquid and develops into a non-sag putty, helping the material wet the prepared rubber and stay in deeper repair areas. The 4 lb kit is sized for industrial maintenance work where downtime and abrasion resistance both matter.

Devcon R-Flex Belt Repair Applications

The cured urethane adheres to properly prepared SBR and remains flexible under belt movement. It can rebuild localized damage, cover fastener systems, and protect splice areas from scraper contact. Published functional cure is approximately 90 minutes under suitable conditions, allowing many repairs to return to service within the same maintenance window.

Surface Preparation and Mixing

• Clean the area with the specified cleaner applied to a rag, then remove loose contamination.
• Roughen the belt with a suitable abrasive without cutting into the woven carcass.
• Remove the sanding residue with a dry rag so the repair area is dust free.
• Apply the included surface conditioner and allow it to dry before mixing the urethane.
• Combine the resin and curing agent completely, then place the material while it is still fluid.

Ideal application temperature is above 50 F. The material changes from liquid to non-sag gel quickly, so the repair area, tools, and forms should be ready before mixing. Do not use an unapproved solvent on the roughened belt because it can interfere with adhesion. Follow the current technical data sheet for conditioner use, mixing sequence, repair thickness, and return-to-service timing.
