Description
The Devcon Bronze Putty (BR) is a bronze-filled, two-part epoxy putty for rebuilding and repairing worn bronze, brass, and copper parts. Mixed by hand from resin and hardener, it trowels onto bushings, shafts, castings, and pump housings, then cures to a hard, machinable solid. It bonds to ferrous metals as well, so it covers a wide range of metal repair work.
Where the Devcon Bronze Putty is used
Maintenance crews use the Devcon Bronze Putty to fill, patch, and rebuild worn bearing surfaces and damaged castings without welding. It trowels up to a quarter inch thick without sagging, which lets you restore a worn shaft seat or build up a low spot in one application. After cure it machines, drills, taps, and grinds with conventional metalworking tools. That lets a shop restore a damaged part on site rather than scrap it or wait on a replacement casting, which is often the difference between a quick fix and a long downtime.
How the Devcon Bronze Putty cures
Working time is about 35 minutes at room temperature, with a full cure in 16 hours. The ideal application range is 55 F to 90 F, and the cured putty handles service temperatures to 250 F. Once set, it can be finished to a tight tolerance and painted, matching the look and machinability of the bronze it repairs. The bronze filler also gives the repair a similar appearance to the surrounding metal, which helps on visible castings and fittings.
