Description
EN-1554 clear kit is a two-component polyether polyurethane system for potting, encapsulating, molding, and cable-end sealing work. The 1 gallon clear kit is used when technicians need a flexible electrical protection compound with visual fill control during connector, wire-breakout, or printed circuitry work.
EN-1554 Clear Kit Benefits
- Clear polyurethane cure lets operators see part position, fill level, and trapped air during qualification work.
- Polyether base cures into a tough elastomer that resists cold flow after full cure.
- Room-temperature or heat-assisted cure options help process owners match bench or production conditions.
- Published data lists 4,500 psi tensile strength, 550 percent elongation, and 87 Shore A hardness for the cured system.
- Resistance to water, seawater, oils, gasoline, and JP-4 fuel supports electrical assemblies exposed to harsh service.
Use this material where a rigid epoxy block is not the right answer. Flexible polyurethane potting helps protect wires, terminals, and cavities while allowing some movement in service.
EN-1554 Clear Kit Applications
- Potting watertight electrical connectors and cable end seals.
- Encapsulating printed circuitry, wire breakouts, and small electronic assemblies.
- Casting clear molded parts for qualification or low-volume production.
- Lining small pumps, chutes, or conveyors where abrasion resistance is required.
- Marine and field equipment assemblies exposed to water, oil, or contamination.
Surface Preparation And Use
Keep both components sealed until use, and protect the resin side from atmospheric moisture. Clean parts before potting so oil, flux residue, dust, and loose debris do not sit under the cured material. For metal, neoprene, or PVC bonding, follow the primer guidance in the current technical data sheet.
Mix carefully, pour steadily, and allow the compound to settle around leads and cavities. Confirm cure schedule, ventilation, and handling controls before production use because the system contains regulated reactive chemistry.
Technical Details And Documentation
Manufacturer literature describes CONATHANE EN-1554 as conforming to MIL-M-24041-C, with 99.9 percent mixed non-volatile content and a 15 month unopened shelf life below 90 degrees F. Review current information from ELANTAS before approving production use.
