Description

Fluorolube GR-362 is a PCTFE fluoropolymer grease engineered for severe-service environments where conventional greases fail. The low-temperature workhorse of the Fluorolube grease line, GR-362 holds film and stay-in-place performance down to -40°F (-40°C). NLGI 2 consistency, nonflammable, chemically inert to oxidizers and aggressive chemistries.

GR-362 Benefits

  • Lowest-temperature grease in the Fluorolube line, rated to -40°F (-40°C)
  • Nonflammable PCTFE chemistry safe for oxygen service and oxidizer exposure
  • Stable in strongly acidic and oxidizing chemical environments
  • NLGI 2 medium consistency balances flow and stay-in-place behavior
  • ~80% combined fluorine and chlorine content for outstanding chemical stability
  • Dropping point 510°F (265°C) holds film through routine high-temperature exposure
  • Low volatility, minimal contamination of clean systems

Common Applications

  • Oxygen service valves and regulators
  • Chemical processing equipment and aggressive-fluid systems
  • Cryogenic systems requiring lubrication below freezing
  • Precision instrument bearings and seals
  • Vacuum pumps and life-support gas systems
  • Semiconductor and process-gas applications
  • Hazardous-service valves where flammability is unacceptable

Typical Properties

Property Value (Test Method)
Penetration 253-273 (ASTM D-217-82, 0.1mm @ 77°F)
Dropping Point 510°F / 265°C (ASTM D-2265)
Suggested Min Temp -40°F / -40°C
Suggested Max Temp 150°F / 65°C
Base Oil Equivalent FS-5 / DA-5 (~5 cSt @ 100°F)
NLGI Grade ~2 (Medium / Butter-like)
Chemistry PCTFE fluoropolymer (chlorotrifluoroethylene polymer)

Selection Notes

GR-362 sits between the very-mobile GR-290 (low NLGI, fast-moving parts) and the medium-viscosity GR-470 / GR-544 (higher film strength, slower-speed components). Pick GR-362 for balanced flow-and-stay behavior plus the line’s widest low-temperature range. For very-low-temp gas-phase applications, consider LG-160 instead.

Use Restrictions

Do not use with aluminum or magnesium parts under heavy friction, galling, confined spaces, or high pressure. Detonation risk. Avoid contact with sodium, potassium, amines, hydrazine, liquid fluorine, liquid chlorine trifluoride, gaseous fluorine, hydrofluoric acid, and caustic solutions. These can attack the thickener.
