Description
Araldite 8579 Epoxy is a two-part, solvent-free, thixotropic structural adhesive engineered for demanding industrial bonds where durability, heat, and chemical resistance are critical. It spreads easily, fills gaps reliably, and cures with negligible shrinkage to deliver consistent, high-performance results.
Araldite 8579 Epoxy Key Benefits
- Excellent resistance to chemicals, moisture, and temperatures up to 248°F (120°C)
- Thixotropic paste stays in place on vertical and overhead joints for dependable gap filling
- High mechanical strength for static and dynamic loads; electrically insulating
- No solvent release during cure and minimal shrinkage for dimensional stability
Araldite 8579 Epoxy Applications
Araldite 8579 Epoxy bonds metals, composites, ceramics, and rigid plastics. It suits aerospace, transportation, marine, fabrication, and general manufacturing. Typical uses include panel bonding, component assembly, brackets and inserts, and structural repairs exposed to heat, vibration, or aggressive media. Because it is a paste, it helps maintain bond-line thickness on uneven surfaces and reduces squeeze-out during clamping.
Processing & Cure
This epoxy cures at room temperature for convenient production or with mild heat for faster turnaround. It wets substrates well and offers workable open time for precise part alignment. After applying an even layer, assemble parts with uniform contact pressure to achieve consistent bond performance and repeatable lap-shear results.
Application Guidelines
Ensure substrates are clean and dry. For best practice, abrade, degrease, and dry parts, then apply a thin, even layer—typically 0.002–0.004 inches (0.05–0.10 mm)—and assemble promptly. The thixotropic nature supports controlled bead size and reliable bond-line control. Allow sufficient cure before machining, sanding, or loading assemblies.
Packaging, Storage, and Support
This listing is for the 60LB Resin Unit. Store components between 59–77°F (15–25°C) to maintain long usability. For detailed technical information and safety guidance, review the Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and contact our team for application support.
