Description
Araldite AV 4600 is a one-component, heat-curing epoxy paste built for high impact strength across a wide temperature band. It bonds metals and many other materials with a thixotropic body that holds its shape on vertical joints and fills gaps up to 3 mm.
Where Araldite AV 4600 performs
This epoxy suits structural metal bonding that has to survive shock and cold. Cured joints stay tough down to -40 C and hold heat resistance to 120 C, so it fits assemblies in transport, electronics, and industrial equipment. Good peel strength and chemical resistance round out the profile.
How to apply Araldite AV 4600
Degrease the surfaces with acetone, then abrade and degrease again for the strongest joint. Spread a thin film, around 0.05 to 0.10 mm, clamp the parts, and cure with heat. Cure runs about 40 minutes at 160 C, 30 minutes at 180 C, or 20 minutes at 200 C. Temperatures below 150 C will not fully cure the paste.
Because cure needs oven or fixture heat, plan the bond around a controlled bake rather than a room-temperature set. Thick bondlines can exotherm, so keep the layer under 2 mm. Stored cold at 2 to 8 C, the paste holds for up to two years, and you should bring it to working temperature before spreading for an even film.
